CarerMeds — Privacy Policy

CarerMeds ("the app", "we", "us") is developed and maintained by Pradeep (pradeepnswamy@gmail.com). This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected, how it is used, and what rights you have over your data.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

• Email address — used to create and authenticate your account via Firebase Authentication.

Health & medicine data you enter

• Medicine names, forms, dosages, quantities, expiry dates, and notes.
• Patient names and profiles you create to organise medicines.
• Prescription records including hospital visit details linked to medicines.
• Alert statuses (dismissed or active) for expiry and opened-too-long alerts.

Photos

• Photos of medicine boxes that you optionally add are stored locally on your device only — in the app's private documents directory. They are never uploaded to Firebase or any external server.

Usage and crash data

• Firebase Crashlytics may collect anonymised crash reports and device information (device model, OS version, app version) to help diagnose and fix bugs. This is disabled in debug builds and contains no personally identifiable information.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To authenticate you and keep your data private to your account.
• To store, display, and sync your medicine and prescription records across your devices.
• To compute expiry and opened-too-long alerts and deliver local push notifications.
• To identify and fix app crashes and improve stability.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the app.

3. Data Storage and Security

All account and medicine data is stored in Google Firebase Firestore, a cloud database hosted on Google's infrastructure. Data is scoped strictly to your user account — no user can read or write another user's documents. Security rules are enforced server-side.

The app uses Firestore's offline persistence so your data is also cached locally on your device and remains accessible without an internet connection.

Photos are stored only in the app's local documents directory and are never sent over the network.

4. Third-Party Services

CarerMeds uses the following third-party services operated by Google:

• Firebase Authentication — account sign-in and session management.
• Cloud Firestore — secure cloud storage for your medicine data.
• Firebase Crashlytics — anonymised crash reporting to improve app stability.

These services are governed by Google's Privacy Policy. No other third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs are included in CarerMeds.

5. Data Retention

Your data is retained in Firestore for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual medicines, prescriptions, or patients at any time from within the app. To delete your entire account and all associated data, contact us at pradeepnswamy@gmail.com and we will permanently remove it within 30 days.

6. Children's Privacy

CarerMeds is designed for adult family caregivers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights including:

• Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Correction — correct inaccurate data directly in the app or by contacting us.
• Deletion — request deletion of your account and all associated data.
• Portability — request an export of your data in a structured format.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
